Op een toplocatie in het centrum van Antwerpen toont stadswinkel\u00a0Jumbo City<\/strong>\u00a0zich voor het eerst aan de Belgen, met veel aandacht voor vers en \u2018food to go\u2019. Een echte uitrol komt er nog niet: eerst wil de retailer de reacties evalueren.<\/p>\n

Food to go<\/h2>\n

De eerste Vlaamse vestiging van de stadswinkelformule van Jumbo heeft een verkoopoppervlakte van 600\u00a0m\u00b2 en is gevestigd in een mooi hoekpand aan de Teniersplaats, pal op de drukke winkelas tussen het Centraal Station en de Meir. Een heel zichtbare toplocatie met een hoge huurprijs, en dus ook een marketinginvestering, zou je kunnen concluderen. Franchisegever Jumbo maakt hier een statement naar de Belgische markt.<\/p>\n

In tegenstelling tot de reguliere stadssupermarkten van de supermarktketen is deze Jumbo City een \u2018mandjeswinkel\u2019 die het vooral van passanten zal moeten hebben. De retailer pakt hier uit met een rijk versassortiment en veel \u2018food to go\u2019: sandwiches, wraps, salades, sappen\u2026 Centraal in de winkel staat de vers-keuken met gegrilde kip, bereide maaltijden en de bekende pizzacorner. Afrekenen doen klanten aan een batterij zelfscankassa\u2019s, al heeft de retailer ook twee bemande kassa\u2019s voorzien.<\/p>\n

Eerst evalueren, dan uitrollen<\/h2>\n

\u201cOp deze locatie gaan we testen hoe de Jumbo City formule aanslaat bij de Belgische klant\u201d, zegt directeur Belgi\u00eb Peter Isaac. \u201cWe gaan stap voor stap, we willen goed evalueren voor we deze formule verder uitrollen in Belgi\u00eb. We zien zeker mogelijkheden, maar we hebben nog geen concrete locaties voor bijkomende Jumbo City vestigingen.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dit is de zestiende winkel voor Jumbo in Belgi\u00eb. Deze maand opende de supermarktketen nog een zeventiende franchisevestiging in Kuurne. Dat is dan meteen de laatste winkelopening voor 2021. Voor volgend jaar staan er al een vijftiental bijkomende winkels op de planning. \u201cDaar zitten ook flink wat nieuwbouwprojecten bij, dus de openingsdata zijn soms nog onzeker, maar dat aantal halen we wel\u201d, aldus Isaac. Zoals bekend ziet Jumbo potentieel voor een honderdtal franchisewinkels in Belgi\u00eb.<\/p>\n
