De Belgisch-Griekse pralinemaker Leonidas verhuist zijn pralineproductie naar een nieuwe fabriek in Nijvel. De opening is gepland voor midden 2024.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Leonidas<\/a> was al twee jaar op zoek\u00a0naar een nieuwe locatie voor zijn pralinefabriek. Het praline- en chocolademerk wil nieuwe chocoladelijnen bouwen om de productie op te voeren en zocht een gepaste locatie van 4 ha in het Brussels Gewest om er een nieuwe hoofdzetel annex fabriek te bouwen. Het bedrijf had grond gekocht in Nijvel-Noord, maar deze zomer bestond nog twijfel over de verhuizing. De kans bestond dat de productie toch in de 30 jaar oude fabriek in Anderlecht zou blijven. De raad van bestuur heeft nu toch voor Nijvel gekozen.<\/p>\n

In de praktijk zullen alle activiteiten die verspreid zijn over twee Anderlechtse vestigingen – het magazijn ligt in de industriezone, de kantoren en de productie aan de Jules Graindorlaan – gegroepeerd worden op een terrein van 5 hectare. Een deel van de site – een kleine 1.000 m2 – zal worden voorbehouden voor onderzoekslaboratoria en testproductielijnen. De bedoeling is om daar samen met universiteiten en andere instanties aan onderzoek te doen in de voedingsmiddelensector. De nieuwe fabriek in Nijvel moet het mogelijk maken de productie, de effici\u00ebntie \u00e9n het assortiment aanzienlijk op te voeren, zegt de directie.<\/p>\n

De productieverhuizing verloopt gefaseerd, altijd in de zomermaanden. Die zijn voor Leonidas kalmer dan pakweg de drukke eindejaarsperiode, wanneer er meer vraag is naar pralines. In juni-augustus 2024 verhuist een deel van de productie. Dan zal Leonidas zowat een jaar met twee fabrieken werken. In juni-augustus 2025 verhuist het tweede deel. ‘We kunnen het ons niet permitteren grote risico’s te nemen’, zegt topman Philippe de Selliers. ‘Leonidas heeft maar \u00e9\u00e9n productievestiging.’<\/p>\n

Leonidas gaat er alles aan doen om zoveel mogelijk werknemers mee naar de nieuwe locatie te nemen. De Selliers: ‘We zijn een familiale onderneming. We hebben iedereen nodig.’ De nieuwe vestiging zal volgens Selliers op milieuvlak voldoen aan de striktste normen en nog beter inspelen op de vraag naar diversificatie en innovatie bij de miljoenen consumenten. ‘Dankzij de nieuwe productie-eenheid beginnen we aan een nieuw hoofdstuk in de rijke geschiedenis van Leonidas.’<\/p>\n

Leonidas Kestekides<\/h2>\n

Leonidas werd opgericht in 1913. Het bedrijf telt ongeveer 1.300 winkels in 40 landen, waarvan 400 in Belgi\u00eb. Het gros wordt uitgebaat door zelfstandige franchisenemers. De winkelketen heeft 400 werknemers in dienst. De franchisenemers tellen 10.000 werknemers. Leonidas is eigendom van de families die afstammen van de oprichter Leonidas Kestekides.<\/p>\n
